For some people, using opioids are the best option for pain relief.

People who are prescribed opioids for more than three months can review their pain outcomes using the 'ROOM' Tool. ROOM stands for Routine Opioid Outcome Monitoring tool and it was developed to help people using opioids for chronic pain measure key outcomes such as pain, side effects or other aspects of their health.

The ROOM tool is ideally used in as part of a discussion with an opioid prescriber of pharmacist, but you can fill it in before you see your healthcare provider.

Understanding opioids

Opioid medicines can be used to reduce some types of pain, such as acute pain and chronic pain. It is important to know the risks and benefits of opioid medication and their safe use.

Are you taking care of someone or know someone who takes opioids ?

The toolkit can help navigate safer use of prescription, including by developing a personalised safety plan, and using tools to measure outcomes with use of opioids over longer periods.
